This past weekend, Brenda and I spent some time in New York City. On this visit, photography was the theme, so we paid a visit to the International Center of Photography. Their museum had a number of exhibits by well-known photographers, but one in particular stood out to me. It was an exhibit of photographs made by Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky. The exhibit showed how mankind has changed our world over the past several decades. While the images were stunning in their visual impact, they were also sobering in the degree to which we are changing our world, and not necessarily for the better.
After poring over Burtynsky's images for what seemed like an hour, we both walked away in awe of how haunting the images were. You can check out his work here at the ICP Museum website:
